Norway: Subwoolfer win Melodi Grand Prix 2022 and are off  to Eurovision 2022

  • The duo Subwoolfer won the Norwegian national final of Melodi Grand Prix 2022 and will fly to Turin with their song 'Give that wolf a banana'

    After four semi-final rounds and a second chance heat Melodi Grand Prix 2022 concluded with the final show that selected Norway's Eurovision 2022 representative. The show took place at H3 Arena in Fornebu and a live audience attended the show. Hosts of show were once again Kåre Magnus Bergh accompanied by Annika Momrak and Mikkel Niva.

    A total of 10 finalists competed tonight, five pre-qualified acts and the five qualifiers from the semifinals stage form the final line-up. 

    The 10 acts who performed on stage in the following running order: 

    Oda Gondrosen –Hammer of Thor
    NorthKid –Someone
    Anna-Lisa Kumoji – Queen Bees
    Farida –Dangerous
    Sofie Fjellvang – Made Of Glass
    Frode – Black Flowers
    Christian Ingebrigtsen –Wonder of the world
    Maria Mohn – Fly
    Subwoolfer –Give that wolf a banana
    Elsie Bay – Death of us

     

    The results

    The final outcome was determined through three rounds of voting. During the first round the public selected four acts that will moved on to the next round of voting. In the second phase out of the four acts, two of them were selected by the public voting to go into a final Gold Duel. 

    The four acts that qualified to the second phase were: 

    1. NorthKid – Someone
    2. Sofie Fjellvang – Made Of Glass
    3. Subwoolfer – Give That Wolf A Banana
    4. Elsie Bay – Death Of Us

    After the second public voting concluded the two acts that made it the final Gold Duel were: 

    • NorthKid – Someone
    • Subwoolfer – Give That Wolf a Banana

    Grand Prix results

    Eventually Subwoolfer were declared winners of the national final and will flying the flag in Turin at Eurovision 2022. Th3 Norwegian duo will be performing at Eurovision 2022 in the first half of the 1st semi final on May 10 in Turin. 

     

    A few words for Subwoolfer

    Subwoolfer is a Norwegian pop duo the identities of the which are not known but they present themselves as Keith and Jim.The Norwegian duo had major success with their hit ‘The Fox (What Does The Fox Say?)’ in 2013

    Subwoolfer however intorduce themselves as the The biggest band in the Galaxy, first formed 4.5 billion years ago on their home planet, the moon. Since then, the brothers, Keith and Jim, have conquered the music scene on every planet, making them the most successful pop group ever. This is the story they present for themselves and their Eurovision entry: 

    On 20th June 1969, a prophet named Neil appeared to them, and was soon hailed ‘the man with the strongest arms’. He promised to return telling them he would help them become the biggest band on his planet too, but only once they had written the greatest song in the universe, sung in his native tongue - English. Neil never returned however, and so now armed with the greatest song in existence, «Give That Wolf a Banana», they have come to earth in search of him, and to claim their musical throne by performing at the most important and prestigious musical event in the history of the world - MGP Norway 2022.
