Poland: Krystian Ochman selected for Eurovision 2022

Krystian Ochman is Poland's Eurovision 2022 hopeful after winning the national final"Tu bije serce Europy" singing "River".
This year the Polish broadcaster, TVP, switched to a national final in order to determine their Eurovision 2022 representative. Last time this happened was in 2020 when Alicja and her song “Empires” were selected through the televised show “Szansa na Sukces".
The show was hosted by last year's representative Rafał Brzozowski and saw a total of 10 acts competing on stage for the right to represent Poland at Eurovision 2022.
In addition several guest stars will feature the show. namely Ell & Nikki the winners of Eurovision 2011, Justyna Steczkowska (Poland 1995) , Blue Café (Poland 2004), Viki Gabor (Polish JESC 2019 winner), Sarah James (JESC 2021 runner up for Poland) Kasia Mos (Poland 2017) and Rafał Brzozowski (Represented Poland 2021) will treat the audience with their performances.
The 10 contestants appeared on stage in the following running order:
- Kuba Szmajkowski – “Lovesick“
- Ania Byrcyn – “Dokąd“
- Siostry Szlachta – “Drogowskazy”
- Lidia Kopania – “Why Does It Hurt?”
- Karolina Stanisławczyk & Toro Chica – “Move”
- Karolina Lizer – “Czysta Woda”
- Unmute – “Głośniej Niż Decybele“
- Emilia Dębska (Mila) – “All I Need”
- Krystian Ochman – “River”
- Daria – “Paranoia”
The outcome of the show was determined by the contribution of public and jury voting. The public and jury voted for the three acts to qualify to the Superfinal round. In the Superfinal round the public vote exclusively determined the final winner and the one to represent Poland in Turin. The members of the jury which which infuenced the results in the first round were:
- Halina Frąckowiak – Singer
- Marek Sierocki – Junior Eurovision and Eurovision Polish commentatior
- Marcin Kusy – Forme juror in the 2016 selection
- Szymon Orłowski – President of LOFT ART Association of Art and Culture promotion
- Krystian Kuczkowski – TVP Program Director
After the first round of voting the top three acts that qualified to the next round were Krystian Ochman, Daria and Unmute, while the rest contestants ranked as following:

In the second round the results was determined entirely by the public vote, declaring Krystian Ochman the winner of the national final with 51% of the votes, while Daria came second with 39% and Unmute finished third with 10%.
A few words for Krystian
Krystian Ochman (born 19 July 1999 - Polish singer and composer who combines the sound of classical singing with an entertainment repertoire in his work. He came to fame and has met success after winning the 11th edition of The Voice of Poland.
He comes from a family with musical traditions - his father played the synthesizer in the Róże Europy band , and his grandfather, Wiesław Ochman , is an opera singer . At first he was fascinated by sport, he swam and wanted to become a footballer, eventually, at the urging of his parents, he began to learn to play the piano and trumpet . During his high school years, he took up singing lessons, and also played the role of a prince in the school musical Cinderella . At the urging of his grandfather, he started studies at the Academy of Music in Katowice in the class of classical singing.
After winning The Voice, In the following months, he released the singles: "Great titles", "Memory" and "Same ja". In September 2021 he received the Audience Award in the concert "Premiery" at the 58th National Festival of Polish Song in Opole , in which he performed the song "Prometheusz"
Krystian will be competing for Poland in the second half of the 2nd semi final on May 12 in Turin.
