Russia: Tanya Mezhentseva selected for Junior Eurovision 2021

  • Tanya Mezhentseva won the Russian national final for Junior Eurovision 2021 and will be performing the song Mon Ami in Paris. 

    The Igor Krutoy Academy made public that Tanya Mezhentseva will be Russia's Junior Eurovision 2021 hopeful after winning the national selection that took place Tuesday evening but will be broadcasted on October 30, 2021. 

    Tanya is returning on the Junior Eurovision stage for a second time after her participation in Gliwice-Silesia at JESC 2019, as member of the duo with  Denberel Oorzhak performing the song A Time For Us , which finished in the 13th place with 72 points.

    Tanya stated on her Junior Eurovision comeback: 

    “This year I decided to try my hand at a solo song, and I succeeded! I am very glad that I will represent Russia at the competition in Paris. I would like to note that I had strong rivals. All the participants had good songs and beautiful numbers. . I wanted to thank everyone who voted for me and my song Mon Ami in the final! And also my family, which always supports me."

    The outcome of the national final was determined by a combination of public online voting and jury voting. The jury that contributed in the results was made up by the following members:

    • Yulia Savicheva – Eurovision 2004 act
    • Ekaterina Orlova – Russia's JESC Head of Delegation
    • Ekaterina Maneshina
    • Valery Kuzakov

    The results of the online voting turned out as following:

    • Tanya Mezhentseva – “Mon ami” (My friend) – 18.68%
    • OCHECHI – “Siyay” (Shine) – 16.22%
    • Maria Gulevich – “Moy mir” (My world) – 14.86%
    • Yulia Favrilova – “Moyo imya lyubov” (My name is love) – 13.76%
    • Polina Etchik – “Vremya mechtat” (Time to dream) – 8.89%
    • Lol & Pop – “Tantsuy” (Dance) – 7.38%
    • Andrey Dobryshev – “100 dorog” (100 roads) – 5.99%
    • Tania Sania – “Zakruzhit” (Whirl) – 5.39%
    • Murad Kushlaev – “Naivnaya” (Naive) – 4.06%
    • Nikita Varentsov – “7.40” – 2.15%
    • Liza Trofimova – “Zachet” (Offset) – 0.43%
    • Sofia Fomenko – “Hey Mom” – 0.28%

     

    Russia in Junior Eurovision 

    Russia debuted at the competition in 2005 and has all years achieved to finish in the top 10 places.  The country has won twice the contest , in 2006 with the Tolmachevy Sisters who performed "Vesenniy Jazz" and 2017 with Polina Bogusevich singing "Wings". In 2019 the country was represented in Gliwice by Tatyana Mezhentseva and Denberel Oorzhak with the song “A Time For Us”  which ended at 13th place with 72 points.

    Last year, Sofia Feskova won the national selection and represented the country in Warsaw with her song 'My New Day' which finished 10th with 88 points in total.
