Russia: The 12 contestants of the JESC 2021 national final unveiled

The 12 acts that will compete in the Russian national final for Junior Eurovision 2021 have been unveiled.
In a national semi-final of Junior Eurovision 2021 that was held in the last days of September by the Igor Krutoy Academy with the support of the federal public family TV channel Karusel, which are the official organizers of the national selection for the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in Russia.
65 young talented acts from all over Russia took part in the Russian semi-final. The members of the professional jury listened to 69 songs (according to the rules of the competition, you can perform several compositions that the participant previously submitted during his application and which were approved by the members of the jury). Among the participants in the semifinals were laureates of other international music competitions and television shows. Many children not only performed their solo compositions, but also staged show numbers with paints, drums and incendiary dancers.
As a result, the jury selected 12 songs, the performers of which will take the stage in the National Final of the Junior Eurovision Selection Round, which will be held on October 26 in Moscow. The finalist will be determined by Internet voting and voting by a professional jury, which will include figures from Russian show business and representatives of creative professions.
The 12 national finalists
Namely, the 12 finalists of the national final are:

- Tanya Mezhentseva (Moscow),
- The trio Lol & Pop (Ryana Ibatullina, Ralina Ibraeva, Samina Alieva (Kazan),
- Andrey Drobyshev (Novocherkassk, Rostov region),
- Nikita Varentsov (Yaroslavl),
- Maria Gulevich (Samara),
- Murad Khushlaev (Makhachkala ),
- Sofia Fomenko (Podolsk, Moscow region),
- Elizaveta Trofimova (Moscow),
- Yulia Gavrilova (the village of Kinel-Cherkassy, Samara region),
- Tania Sania (Cherkessk).
Among the contestants we see Tanya Mezhentseva who represented the country at Junior Eurovision 2019 in Gliwice-Silesia, Poland as part of the duo with Denberel Oorzak performing “A Time For Us”
The National Selection show will begin with the performance of Sofia Feskova with the song "My New Day", who represented Russia at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest last year. The performance of the young artist Valery Kuzakov with the composition "Children of the Earth" is also planned.

Russia debuted at the competition in 2005 and has all years achieved to finish in the top 10 places. The country has won twice the contest , in 2006 with the Tolmachevy Sisters who performed "Vesenniy Jazz" and 2017 with Polina Bogusevich singing "Wings". In 2019 the country was represented in Gliwice by Tatyana Mezhentseva and Denberel Oorzhak with the song “A Time For Us” which ended at 13th place with 72 points.
Last year, Sofia Feskova won the national selection and represented the country in Warsaw with her song 'My New Day' which finished 10th with 88 points in total.
