San Marino: Una Voce Per San Marino's Emerging Artists category sees 200 submissions; First jurors unveiled

  • A total of 200 submissions have shown up for the 'Emerging Artists' category of "Una Voce Per San Marino" the selection format San Marino is using to determine their Eurovision 2022 representative. 

    The Sammarinese national broadcaster, SMRTV, has revealed that they have received 200 submission for the country's national selection 'Una Voce Per San Marino' in the category of Emerging Artists

    The participating artists of this year's selection are divided in two major categories: Emerging Acts and Big ActsNine Emerging acts and nine Big acts will make up the line up of the Grand final which will take place on February 19 2022 in the Teatro Nuovo in Dogana.

    The Emerging acts will take part in an academy which will serve as a preliminary casting phase and will be held at “Teatro Titano”. Through series of semi finals that will take place on on February 9-10-11-12-13 and a final show on February 16, 2022, nine Emerging acts will advance to the national Grand final. On the other hand, the nine Big Acts that will compete in the national final will be invited directly by Media Evolution Srl. The final outcome of the competition will be determined by a special jury panel. 

     

    The first jurors unveiled

    In addition the Sammarinese broadcaster has revealed the first four jurors of the specific category. Namely they are: 

    Roberta Faccani, former voice of Matia Bazar, artist known for the musicals "Rent", "Pinocchio the great musical", "Alice in Wonderland", "Romeo and Juliet - Love and change the world" and "Zerovskij", as well as founder of the Academy and singing method La Fabbrica del Cantante Actore and of the Bandidos Records label.

    Emilio Munda, producer, composer and author for Il Volo, Umberto Tozzi, Francesco Renga, Nina Zilli, I Nomadi, Michele Bravi, Paolo Meneguzzi, Dear Jack, Gemelli Divers, Valerio Scanu and for other talent artists such as "The voice", "Amici" and "Xfactor" He has won several Gold and Platinum records, twice in a row he wins the podium at the Sanremo Festival.

    Roberto Costa, bassist, sound engineer, arranger and producer for Lucio Dalla, Stadio, Ivan Graziani, Ron, Luca Carboni, Mina, Gianni Morandi, Luca Barbarossa and Luciano Pavarotti. Author and producer of music for cinema, theater and television. Professional Area Expert / Qualification within the SRFC of the Emilia Romagna Region for the training of certified Sound Technicians.

    Steve Lyon, London-based sound engineer and producer, has collaborated with Depeche Mode, The Cure, Sir Paul McCartney, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Recoil, Amplifier, Reamonn, Suzerain, Subsonica, Marco Guazone, MirkoeilCane, Laura Pausini, 99 Posse, Eros Ram azzotti. He has obtained numerous Platinum and Gold Records and two Latin Grammys.

     

    Submission window still open

    Previously SMRTV had releasedthe rules and regulations of the upcoming national selection. While all acts and songs must comply with the general rules set by EBU there are no restrictions regarding the contestants' nationality. Interested acts in taking part in the national selection should send in their applications through the official “Una Voce per San Marino” website until January 8, 2022.

     

     

    San Marino in Eurovision 

    San Marino made its first appearcance in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2008 with Miodio and  has scored no victory yet. The landlocked country has participated in Europe’s  televised music event 9 times and has only made it to the Grand Final twice, in 2014 when Valentina Monetta placed 24th in the Grand Final and this year with Serhat who achieve the best placing finishing 19th in the Grand final

    Valentina has flow the Sammarinese flag at the Eurovision Song Contest four times ( 2012, 2013, 2014, 2017). In 2019  Serhat flew the flag for San Marino in Tel Aviv with his entry Say Na na na,  achieving to qualify to the Grand final where he finished 19th.

    Senhit was internally selected to represent San Marino at Eurovision 2020 with entry ‘Freaky’ which was selected via an online song selection process. Unfortunately the contest was cancelled and Senhit didn't have a chance to complete her Eurovision journ

    SMRTV invited Senhit back for Eurovision 2021 in Rotterdam where she performed her entry 'Adrenalina' alongside with Flo Rida and after qualifying to the final she finished 22th with a total of 50 points in the overall score.
