  • Serbia's Eurovision 2021 hopefuls, the female group Hurricane, will be singing "Loco Loco" at the 65th Eurovision Song Contest next May in Rotterdam. 

    Through a teaser on the the official Eurovision twitter account, the song that the Serbian representatives will be performing in Rotterdam seems to be titled "Loco Loco"

    The female trio  have been working on the song with Darko Dimitrov and  Nemanja Antonić, the person behind their 2020 entry “Hasta La Vista”. Darko has been behind several  previous Eurovision entries from North Macedonia, Albania, and Serbia among which his best result came with Tamara Todevska's "Proud" which  finished 9th for North Macedonia.

    The Serbian entry is expected to go public in March. 

     

    A Few words for Hurricane

    Hurricane is a Pop & R&B female group formed  Zoran Milinković in November 2017 and is made up by  Sanja Vučić, Ivana Nikolić and Ksenija Knežević.They sing mostly in English; they have only three songs in their native language Serbian till now. Hurricane aims to be recognized globally; they have two planned songs for Universal (as of November 2019), and already have collaborated with Hollywood producer Stephen Belafonte (in September 2018

    Two of its members are no strangers to the Eurovision world but have got involved one way or another in the event. Namely,  Sanja Vučić  who is a singer that embraces Jazz element, represented Serbia in the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 as member of her former group, ΖΑΑ, finishing 18th with the song Goodbye (Shelter). Ksenija Knežević the other hand is the daughter of Knez, the Montenegerin ESC 2014 act while Ksenija herself competed in the 2014 Serbian national final as member of the group SKY. Ivana Nikolić had in the past several collaborations with major former Yugoslavian music stars.

     

    Serbia In Eurovision 

    Serbia participated as an independent state in the contest in 2007, a year which the country was crowned winner with Marija Šerifović and her entry Molitva and remains the only nation to win on its debut in the contest. (apart from Switzerland which won in the first edition of the contest back in 1956).

    The nation has a total of 12 participations and one year of absence (2014) It has achieved to qualify 7 times in the Grand  final while 3 times it fiailed for only one place  (10th in 2009, 11th in 2013&  2017). Apart from its victory Serbia has achieved a top 10  placing three more times (6th in 2008, 3rd in 2012, 10th in 2015).

    Serbia participated twice as part of the Serbia- Montenegrin Federation (2nd in 2004 and 7th in 2005), while since 1961 until 1992 participated as part of the united then Yugoslavia. Six of these Yugoslavian entries came from the Serbian region. Yugoslavia had won the contest once, in 1989.

    In 2019 the country was represented by Nevena Božović with her song “Kruna” .Nevena’s was no stranger to the Eurovision family as she had previously participated in Junior Eurovision in 2007 and in Eurovision in 2013 with Moje 3. In 2019 she came 18th in the grand final after securing Serbia’s second successive qualification to the final show.

    Last year the female group  Hurricane was set to represent the country with their song ‘Hasta La Vista’  after winning the national final Beovizija 2020. However the female trio bever reached the stage in Rotterdam as the contest was cancelled due to the covid-19 pandemic.
