Spain: Benidorm Fest Second Semi Final Qualifiers determined

  • The second and last set of four finalists in the Spanish national selection was determined last evening with the 2nd semi-final of Benidorm Fest. 

    Spain has decided to select their Eurovision 2022 representative and entry through the historic Benidorm Festival. Following yesterday's first semi-final show,  the second semi-final selected this evening the rest four finalists, completing the Grand final line-up. Once again the show was hosted by the trio Alaska, Ines Hernand and Maxim Huerta.

    A total of 14 acts were set initially to compete in the music fesrtival, but after  Luna Ki 's withdrawal, 13 acts remained in the run for the right to represent the nation at Eurovision 2022..

    The singers were split in two semifinals shows. The four most voted in each gala by the professional jury (60% national experts and 40% international) and the public (50% televoting and 50% demoscopic jury) advanced to the grand final,  which  will see a total of eight performances. 

    The seven acts that competed in the second semi-final heat were:

    1. Xeinn – “Eco” (Echo)
    2. Marta Sango -”Sigues en mi mente” (You stay in my mind)
    3. Javiera Mena – “Culpa” (Fault)
    4. Gonzalo Hermida “Quién lo diría” (Who would say it)
    5. Rigoberta Bandini – “Ay Mama” (O Mum)
    6. Rayden – “Calle de la llorería” (Crying street)
    7. Sara Deop – “Make you say”

    Gonzalo Hermida did not compete live as he was tested covid positive took part with his music video. The jury panel that contributed in the outcome of the show consists of the followiing members: 

    • Estefanía García – Coordinator of the RTVE Orchestra and Choir
    • Felix Bergsson – Iceland's Head of Delegation 
    • Marvin Dietmann – Creative Director
    • Miryam Benedited – Choreographer
    • Natalia Calderón – Singer and actress

     

     

    The Results

    The results were influenced by three bodies of voters:  the professional jury (25%) , the demoscopic jury , the demoscopic audience (25%) and the  televoting (25%)

    Last were added the votes from the televoting which counted for 25% of the overall vote and with the addition of the televoters' verdict the four qualifiers were determined.

    Thus, the second set of four acts that secure their spot in the Grand final and will be giving a final battle for the ticket to Eurovision 2022 in Turin are: 

    1.Rigoberta Bandini – “Ay Mama” (O Mum)

     

    2.Rayden – “Calle de la llorería” (Crying street)

     

    3.Xeinn – “Eco” (Echo)

     

    4.Gonzalo Hermida – “Quién lo diría” (Who would say it)

     

     

     

    These four acts  will be join the other four first semi final qualifiers in the Grand final show set to take place this Saturday, January 29.
