The Netherlands: AVROTROS commences its search for Eurovision 2023

 -
The Dutch national broadaster, AVROTROS, has kicked off the selection process for the Eurovision Song Contest 2023. AVROTROS is one of the first broadcasters to launch its search for Eurovision 2023 and the next Dutch representative. The country will be using the same selection formula according to which the act is selected through a special committee. The selection committee strives for an entry with a preferably contemporary, but in any case authentic sound. A song that is able to survive in a competition. By a Dutch artist who is willing and able to convey his own personal song and, if possible, a personal story in a distinctive way, in whatever genre. A song can be brought to the attention of the selection committee by sending it directly to the following email address: [email protected]. The process will be supervised by Head of Delegation of the Netherlands, Lars Lourenco. Questions can also be shared via this email address.
AVROTROS or the selection committee will not set up a trajectory (s) with an artist / songwriter to come to a (final) product. It is expected that a (demo) song of artist / songwriter with the above criteria will be brought to the attention of the selection committee at an advanced stage.Terms and Conditions - Song is convincingly distinctive and meets the above description

- Duration of the song not more than 3 minutes.
- Song has not been (commercially) released before September 1, 2022
- Submission period ends on August 31, 2022

However the contest was cancelled due to the covid-19 pandemic and never had the chance to perform on home soil. Last year Rotterdam made it happen with the host nation being represented by last year's hopeful, Jeangu Macrooy who sang 'Birth of a new age' which finished 23rd in the overall score with only 11 points.
