Tonight: Eesti Laul 2022 First Semi-Final takes place in Estonia

  • The Estonian national selection for Eurovision 2022 progresses this evening to the semifinals stage with the first semi-final show of Eesti Laul 2022 taking place. 

    After four qualifying rounds that took place back in November and December 2021 and determined 20 semifinalists, the Estonian selection goes on with the first semi final show. 

    The show will be hosted by Maarja-Liis Ilus and Priit Loog. Maarja-Liis Ilus had represented Estonia at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1996 and 1997 while Priit Loog is an actor known from secveral television series and films.

     

    A total of 10 acts will take the stage this evening for five spots that lead to the finals. Namely the competing acts of the night are: 

    1. Elysa – “Fire
    2. Helen – “Vaata minu poole
    3. Andrei Zevakin feat. Grete Paia – “Mis nüüd saab
    4. Alabama Watchdog – “Move On
    5. Merilin Mälk – “Little Girl
    6. Stig Rästa – “Interstellar
    7. Triin Niitoja ja Frants Tikerpuu – “Laululind
    8. Kaia-Liisa Kesler – “Vaikus
    9. Elina Nechayeva – “Remedy
    10. Ott Lepland – “Aovalguses

    Notably, ELYSA and Merilin Mälk  will not be performing live as they were detected positive to Covid-19. However they will compete with the music videos of the songs which will be broadcast live. 

     

    The results

    The semi-final show will consist of two rounds of voting. In the first round a combination of jury and public voting (50% each) will determine the first three qualifiers to the final. In the second round of voting the public only will select two more acts to advance to the finals. Thus, five acts will be determined this evening for the Grand final show.
