Tonight: One more Super Saturday with 8 national selection shows for Eurovision 2022

  • Eurovision national selection season is progressing with 4 more nations determining their representatives for Turin while four countries are going through semifinal rounds. 

    Four Grand final shows will be selecting four more Eurovision 2022 representatives this evening, while four semi-shows are taking place across Europe. 

    Namely. Ukraine, Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania will be selecting today their Eurovision 2022 acts and entries, while Melodifestivalen continues with the 2nd semi final heat in Sweden, Norway is holding the last chance round of Melodi Grand Prix 2022, in Romania the Nationala Selectia semi final is taking place and EMA 2022 second semi final will hit the screen in Slovenia.

    Lets go an see each event one by one: 

     

    Ukraine- Vidbir 2022 - Final (17:30 CET)

    Followiing Go_A's massive acceptance and the good result in Rotterdam the national broadcaster is sticking to the national selection format used the previous years, Vidbir 2022. 

    Responsible for the production of the show will be this year, Friends Pro TV, which are taking over from STB who were in charge since the first edition of the selection in 2016. Friends Pro TV will be taking care of the on-tape live performance and the staging in Turin. 

    A total of eight contestants will compete this evening for the right to represent Ukraine at Eurovision 2022. Namely, the act we will see take the stage are:

    1. Cloudless – “All be alright”
    2. Michael Soul – “Demons”
    3. Our Atlantic – “Moya lyubov” (My love)
    4. Barleben – “Hear My Words”
    5. Kalush Orchestra – “Stefania”
    6. Roxolana – “GIRLZZZZ”
    7. Wellboy – “Nozzy Bossy”
    8. Alina Pash – “Tini zabutykh predkiv” (Shadows of forgotten ancestors)

    The outcome of the national final will be determined by a combination of jury and public voting. The jury consists of three members. Namely these are: 

    • Tina Karol – Urkainian Eurovision 2006 act
    • Yaroslav Lodygin – UA:PBC producer
    • Jamala – Eurovision 2016 winner for Ukraine

    The show will be hosted by Maria Efrosinina, who was one of the Eurovision 2005 hosts, while Timur Miroshnychenko, who was co-hosted Junior Eurovision 2009, Junior Eurovision 2013 and Eurovision 2017 and has been thw Ukrainian Eurovision commentator for several years, will be the Green Room host.

    Estonia – Eesti Laul – Final  (18:30 CET)

    After four qualifying rounds back in November and December and two semi final rounds, tonight the grand final of Eesti Laul 2022 is taking place to determine the Estonian Eurovision 2022 hopeful. 

    The show will be hosted by Maarja-Liis Ilus, Priit Loog and Jüri Pootsmann, while  Annely Peebo and Marko Matvere, who hosted Eurovision 2002 in Tallinn and Uku Suviste (Estonia 2021) will feature as guests the show. 

    A total of ten acts that qualified from the two semi-final heats (five from each semi-final) will compete in the final show of Eesti Laul. 

    The 10 contestants will appear on stage in the following running order:

    The show will consist of two rounds of voting. In the first round a combination of International jury and public voting (50% each) will determine the three qualifiers who will pregress to a Super final round. In the second round public voting exclusively will select the final winner and next Estonian Eurovision 2022 representative.

    Norway – Melodi Grand Prix 2022 – Second Chance Semi final (19:55 CET)

    Tonight the Norwegian national selection for Eurovision 2022, Melodi Grand Prix 2022 , goes on with the second chance semi final show taking place.

    Four acts out of the semifinalists that didn't qualify through the first four semi-final heats were selected via an on online voting to compete this evening's second chance round. 

    The four act will that will compete in today second chance heat are: 

    The four semifinalists will compete in duels live on stage, with the winner from each duel advancing to a 'Gold Duel', after which the ticket for the Grand final will go to the winner of this gold duel.

    Three hosts will have the honor to present us the show. Namely,  "The King of Saturday’s", Kåre Magnus Bergh, will serve as a host of the show for the eighth time. He will be accompanied by two new presenters on board, Annika Momrak and Mikkel Niva.

    The Lithuanian national selection for Eurovision 2022 concludes this evening with the the final of Pabandom iš naujo! 2022.

    Pabandom iš naujo 2022 consists of six shows. After three qualifying rounds, two semifinals the Grand final show is set for this evening. The show will host the trio  Ieva Stasiulevičiūtė, Giedrius Masalskis and Richardas Jonaitis. Giedrius is no stranger to the audience as he had presented the preevious national selections while Ieva is hosting for a second successive year. Also Last year's representatives The Roop will feature the show as guest performing on stage. 

    A total of 8 acts that qualified from the two semifinals will compete for the right to represent Lithuania at Eurovision 2022. The acts to compete in the national final are: 

    • Queens of Roses – Washing Machine
    • Justė Kraujelytė – How To Get My Life Back
    • Gebrasy – Into Your Arms
    • Lolita Zero – Not Your Mother
    • Monika Liu – Sentimental
    • Augustė Vedrickaitė – Before You’re 6ft Under

    • Ieva Zasimauskaitė – I’ll Be There

     

    The outcome will be detemined by public voting (50%) and jury voting (50%). The members of the jury to influence 50% of the result are:

    • Vytautas Bikus – Composer and producer
    • Stanislavas Stavickis-Stano – Composer and producer

    • Vaidotas Valiukevičius – Leading vocalist of The Roop Lithuania's  Eurovision 2020 and 2021 acts

    Romania – Selectia Nationala 2022 – Semi-Final (20:00 CET)

    Romania is holding tonight their televised Semi final of Nationala Selectia 2022 the show that will determine the nation's Eurovision 2022 representative. 

    Anca Mazilu and Bogdan Stănescu will be presenting the show, while Ilinca will be  the Green Room host. In additon, Ilinca will perform on stage a medley of Eurovision song among which “Shum” (Ukraine 2021), “Zitti e buoni” (Italy 2021) and “Toy” (Israel 2018).

    After receiving 94 submissions, a jury reviewed all the entries and shorlisted 45 songs  progressed to the two phase semifinal round. Eventually after one withdrawal 44 acts went into a jury and public voting. Five qualifiers were selected by an online voting held within 24 hours, while fifteen qualifiers were selected by a jury.

    Thus in this evening's semi final show 20 acts will compete on stage to win one of the 10 tickets to the final. Namely, the 20 semifinalists are:

    Sweden – Melodifestivalen 2022 – Semi-final Two (20:00 CET)

    Sweden’s quest for its Eurovision 2022 representative continues this Saturday with the second semi-final of “Melodifestivalen 2022”.

    “Melodifestivalen 2022” consists of 5 semi-final rounds and the grand final to be held on March 12. A total of 28 acts take part in this year’s edition, with 7 acts to compete in each of the first four semi-final rounds. 

    In tonight's first heat which will take place in Stockholm we will see competing the following 7 acts: 

    1. Liamoo – Bluffin
    2. Niello & Lisa Ajax – Tror du att jag bryr mig
    3. Samira Manners – I Want to Be Loved
    4. Alvaro Estrella – Suave
    5. Browsing Collection – Face in the Crowd
    6. John Lundvik – Änglavakt
    7. Tone Sekelius – My Way

    Among tonight's contestants we see the 2019 winner John Lundvik returning while Liamoo, Alvaro Estrella, and Lisa Ajax have taken part in previous editions. 

    The first two acts with the highest points will advance to the Grand final on March 12 , while the third and fourth act will have a second chance in the Second Chance semi final round set to take place on March 5. SVT also has issued some changes to the voting format in this year's edition. 

    SVT decdided to scrap the the Melfest tour which would have seen the comeptition tour across Sweden in several cities, due to the rise of covid-19 cases. Therefore, all six shows will take place in Stockholm. The firth heat today will be hosted by Oscar Zia.

    Latvia – Supernova – Final (20:05 CET)

    Latvia is holding the final show of Supernova 2022, the national selection format used to determine the country's Eurovision hopefuls over the recent years. 

    The final show of Supernova will be hosted by Ketija Šēnberga and Lauris Reiniks. Ketija previously had the honor to host Supernova in 2015, 2016, 2019, and 2020. Lauris represented Latvia  in Riga in  ESC 2003 as member of F.L.Y. performing “Hello From Mars”.

    Following last week's semifinal show, a total of 11 acts will compete in the Latvian national final:

    3. Bermudu Divstūris – “Bad”
    4. Miks Galvanovskis – “I’m Just a Sinner”

    The result will influenced by public voting and by the votes of a jury, the members of which will be revealed after the final show.

    Slovenia – EMA 2022 – Semi-Final Two (20:20 CET)

    Slovenia is going on this evening with their national selection for Eurovision 2022 with the second semi-final of EMA 2022 taking place. 

    The EMA 2022 selection is take place in three evenings - in two semi finals and a final show. Eight established musicians and two winners from Ema Freš,  perform in each semi final round. The jury and televoters determine six finalists in each semi-final. Melani Mekicar and Bojan Cvjetićanin will have the honor to host EMA 2022.

    The 10 contestants of the second semi-final heat will perform in the following running order:

    3. Klara Jazbec – “Vse kar imam” (Everything I have)
