Tonight: The Spanish selection commences with the 1st Semi-final of Benidorm Fest

  • The Spanish national selection for Eurovision 2022 kicks off this evening with the first semi-final heat of Benidorm Fest. 

    Benidorm Fest will be kicking off tonight with the first semi-final show set to hit the screen at 22:40 CET. Spain has decided to select their Eurovision 2022 representative and entry through the historic Benidorm Festival. The competition will be held on 26, 27 and 29 January in the city of Benidorm and will be hosted by Alaska, Ines Hernand and Maxim Huerta.

    A total of 14 acts were set initially to compete in the music fesrtival, but after  Luna Ki 's withdrawal, 13 acts are remaining in the run for the right to represent the nation at Eurovision 2022..

    The singers are split  in  two semifinals shows. The four most voted in each gala by the professional jury (60% national experts and 40% international) and the public (50% televoting and 50% demoscopic jury) will go to the grand final,  which  will see a total of eight performances. 

    The six acts that will be competing in the first semi-final heat ( after Luna Ki's withdrawal) are: 

    1. Varry Brava – “Raffaella”
    2.  Azúcar Moreno – “Postureo” (Posing)
    3. Blanca Paloma – “Secreto de Agua” (Secret of Water)
    4.  Unique – “Mejores” (Better)
    5.  Tanxugueiras – “Terra” (Land)
    6.  Chanel – “Slo mo”

    The jury panel that will contribute in the outcome of the show consists of the followiing members: 

    • Estefanía García – Coordinator of the RTVE Orchestra and Choir
    • Felix Bergsson – Iceland's Head of Delegation 
    • Marvin Dietmann – Creative Director
    • Miryam Benedited – Choreographer
    • Natalia Calderón – Singer and actress
