Ukraine: Olena Usenko wins the national final singing

  • Olena Usenko won the Ukrainian national final for Junior Eurovision 2021 with the song “Vazhil” and will be representing the country in Paris.

    Ukraine has decided for Junior Eurovision 2021 as their national final took place this afternoon and was broadcast on UA: Kultura. The show was hosted by the TV presenter Viktor Dyachenko and Junior Eurovision 2018 representative Darina Krasnovetskaya.

    A total of eleven acts took part in the national final with all of the performances in the show were pre-recorded due to the COVID-19 situation in Ukraine.

     

    The 11 acts that took the stage were: 

    • Arseniy Grischenko – ‘Redemption’
    • Anastayia Doroshenko (Nana Do) – ‘Svit nadliudei’ (The World of Super People)
    • Daryna Zinchenko – ‘Save this world’
    • Karina Kornuta – ‘Save this world’
    • Darina Kryvenko – ‘Kosy khmarochosy’ (Skyscraping Braids)
    • Veronika Morska – ‘Save this world’
    • Yelizabeta Petryk – ‘Save this world’
    • Darya Rebrova – ‘Make Me Happy’
    • Sofia Skvaruk – ‘Golden Time’
    • Mariya Tkachuk – ‘Pazly svitu’ (Puzzles of the World)
    • Olena Usenko (Ellen Usenko) – ‘Vazhil’ (Leverage)

     

    The results 

    The outcome of the final was determined by a combination of public online voting held through Instagram and Facebook and the rest of the votes coming from a jury, the members of which ranked the performance from 1st  to 11th, with the 1st one scoring 11 points, while the 11th place scored 1 point. The jury consisted of the following members: 

    • Alyosha – Ukrainian ESC 2010 act
    • Igor Kondratyuk – TV host and producer
    • Lyuba Morozova – Musicologist
    • Igor Panasov – Editor in Chief of Karabas Live & Music Journalist
    • Oleksandr Balabanov – JESC 2020 act

     

    Once the votes were counted, the result came out as following (Jury + Public votes):

    • Karina Kornuta – ‘Save this world’ – (17+2) – 19 points
    • Darina Kryvenko – ‘Kosy khmarochosy’ (Skyscraping Braids) – (41+10) – 51 points – 2nd
    • Veronika Morska – ‘Save this world’ – (35+9) – 44 points – 3rd
    • Yelizabeta Petryk – ‘Save this world’ – (17+6) – 23 points
    • Darya Rebrova – ‘Make Me Happy’ – (24+3) – 27 points
    • Sofia Skvaruk – ‘Golden Time’ – (31+1) – 32 points
    • Mariya Tkachuk – ‘Pazly svitu’ (Puzzles of the World) – (33+8) – 41 points
    • Olena Usenko (Ellen Usenko) – ‘Vazhil’ (Leverage) – 52+11 – 63 points – 1st
