ESC: The Story of Fire Saga : Molly Sandén to peform live from Iceland

  • The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has confirmed that Molly Sandén will sing “Husavik” during this year’s Oscars pre-show.

    In this year’s show the organisers are introducing something new, a pre-show ahead of the Oscars ceremony. During this new pre-show  all five of the nominated songs will be performed at 18:30 New York time on April 25 .

    Through  a post on its official Instagram account, The Academy shared an image on which  a listed the names of acts to perform the songs nominated in the  Best Original Song category, with Molly included among them. 

    "Husavik" the soundtrack of the film "Eurovision Song Contest: The story of Fire Sage"  has received massive ongoing acceptance. After receiving a nomination at the Critics’ Choice Awards for the Best Song and at the Grammys for the Best Compilation Soundtrack for Visual Media, the song has been nomiated for "Best Original Song" at the 93rd edition of the Oscars. 

    The candidates line up for the Best Orginal song includes the following nominations: 

    “Husavik”  (Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga)

    “Fight for You”  ( Judas and the Black Messiah)

    “Io Sì (Seen)”   (The Life Ahead (La Vita Davanti a Se)

    “Speak Now” from (One Night in Miami.)

     “Hear My Voice”  (The Trial of the Chicago 7.)

     

    And while most of the acts will perform from the roof terrace of Los Angeles’  Academy Museum of Motion Pictures, Molly will come live from Iceland, as confirmed by the AFP news agency.

    The other singers to feature the pre-show with their performance are: Celeste, H.E.R., Leslie Odom, Jr., Laura Pausini, Daniel Pemberton, and Diane Warren. There will also be a special appearance by DJ Tara.

    The song Husavik ( My Hometown)  has been composed by Atli Örvarsson and penned by Fat Max Gsus, Rickard Göransson and Savan Kotecha. The song is performed by Will Ferrell and Molly Sandén, under the stage name My Marianne

    Since its release the song has made a reamarkable break through in the charts of many countries. Namely you can see below the best placing in charts internationally.

    The Voice behind "Husavik" : Molly Sandén

    Molly My Marianne Sandén was  born 3 on  July 1992 and is a Swedish pop singer and voice actress.  Her sisters Frida and Mimmi are also singersAs a teenager, she represented Sweden in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in 2006 singing "Det finaste någon kan få" where she finished 3rd marking Sweden best result up to date. 

    She has also participated in Melodifestivalen  2009  with her song "Så vill stjärnorna" when she qualified to the Grand final but finished in the last place. She return in the Swedish national selection in 2012 with her entry "Why Am I Cyring" achieving an honorable 5th place in the final. She returned for a third Melodifestivalen participation in 2016 with her song "Youniverse", which she co-wrote with Danny Saucedo and John Alexis. She finished 6th in the overall scoreboard. 

    In 2018, Sandén released her third studio album, Större. Her fourth studio album was released in early 2019, called Det bästa kanske inte hänt än.. The album peaked at number two on the Swedish album chart.
