The Netherlands: Duncan Laurence drops his new track 'Someone Else'

  • Duncan Laurence, from The Netherlands, after his epic victory at Eurovision 2019 in Tel Aviv, is back with his follow up single, “Someone Else” along with his debut EP  'Worlds On Fire'. 

    The ESC 2019 winner Duncan is unfolding further on his talent in the international music scene and after his European tour is now dropping his new track, his first EP 'Worlds On Fire ' along with a brand new single  "Someone Else". 

    His new single was recorded in Los Angeles and behind it is a team of  songwriters and producers, including Brett “Leland” McLaughlin and Bram Inscore. McLaughlin and Inscore have worked in the past with worlwide acclaimed stars lamong which Troye Sivan, Selena Gomez, Icona Pop.

    Duncan's new song is a contemporary indie-pop track that refers to all the emotions people go through when they look back at their past relationships. Duncan himself gives the story behind the song's lines:

    “Someone Else’ is about the feeling you can get when you’re all by yourself and your head starts spinning and replaying memories of a previous relationship. The emotional roller coaster of constantly thinking of that one person you loved so deeply but who you can’t be with anymore.”

    “I think it’s a feeling a lot of people go through right now. Where you normally find comfort and distraction in your daily life, these days you are confronted almost every minute with those thoughts: like breaking up with a loved one and going crazy at the thought they’ve maybe already moved on to someone else…”

    Duncan's new track can be found his first EP titiled 'Worlds on Fire'The record consists of a total of five tracks, including his ESC 2019 winning song “Arcade” and the single “Love Don’t Hate It”. The EP also includes two other new songs, “Beautiful” and “Yet”.

    Duncan in Eurovision 

    In 2019 Duncan Laurence was internally selected by the Dutch broadcaster, AVROTROS, to fly the Dutch flag  at Eurovision 2019 in Tel Aviv,with the song 'Arcade'. The Netherlands received a total of 498 points, with 261 points from the public and 237 points from the juries confirming the title of the favorite to win the contest.
