Georgia: Circus Mircus' official music video of 'Lock Me In' is now available

  • The official music video of "Lock Me In", the song Circus Mircus will be singing in Turin representing Georgia at Eurovision 2022, is now out!

    Circus Mircus were internally selected by the Georgian broadcaster, GPB, to represent the nation at the 66th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest. 

    While the song was officially  released three weeks ago, its music video was published only with the audio material on it, using a black background instead of the official music video footage, to express their solidarity towards the Ukrainian people. The band explained at that time, due to the  war in Ukraine , they felt that it was not the right time to release our happy and colorful music video.

    The group will be competing 5th in the second semi-final show on May 12, 2022. Emilia Sandkvist, a member of the Sacha Jean Baptiste group, will be responsible for staging Circus Mircus’ performance in Turin.

     

    A fews word for Circus Mircus

    The Georgian group was established in 2020 in Tbilisi, Georgia and has grown popular within the country showcasing a unique sonically sound. The group was formed by by three local circus academy dropouts. Namely it consists of the Armenian drummer Bavonc Gevorcyan, the multi-instrumentalist and vocalist Iago Waitman from Georgia, the vocalist and guitarist Igor Von Lichtenstein from Belgium and the Greek bassist and vocalist Damocles Stavriadis

    This is how the group defines itself: 

    Sonically unique, Circus Mircus encompasses myriad of genres, intricately reflecting the inner world and the life experience of the each band member. The cornerstone of their philosophy lies in the complete neglect of musical frameworks. 

    The group has already released a total of 10 music videos.

     

     

    Georgia in Eurovision

    Georgia participated in the Eurovision Song Contest first time in 2007 with Sopho Khalvashi and her song Visionary dream . Since then it has competed 11 times missing out only the 2009 edition of the contest, when they chose to withdraw. Its best results were scored in Oslo with Sofia Nizharadze and her song Shine (2010) and Dusseldorf with Eldrine and the entry One More Day (2011) when both achieved a 9th placing in the Grand Final.

    In 2018 the Ethno Jazz Band Iriao were internally selected to represent the country in Lisbon with their entry For you. For a second year in a row Georgia failed to qualify to the grand final. In 2019 in Tel Aviv the nation was Oto Nemsadze with his song "Keep on Going" which didn't make it either to the final. 

    In 2020, won the Georgian Idol and was set  to represent Georgia at the 65th Eurovision Song Contestin Rotterdam with his song  “Take me as i am.  Unfortunately, the contest was cancelled due to the coronavirus outbreak depriving Kipiani of the chance to perform on Rotterdam Ahoy’s stage.

    In 2021 Tornike was selected internally for Eurovision 2021 in Rotterdam where he competed in the second semi final with the ballad song "You" , which sadly didn't qualify to the final.
